My Involvement at IHOP

Full-time intercessor

My first and foremost capacity of serving at the Missions Base is that of an intercessor. Being an intercessory missionary is seemingly weak and foolish in the eyes of the world. I gather with other believers and intercessory missionaries for hours a day in prayer with fasting, asking the Lord to strengthen the church to be bold witnesses of Jesus and of the coming day of the LORD. My “work week” averages about 50 hours in prayer, study, and service to the Missions Base and the city. As with all of the other missionaries on the base, I raise my own financial support to live in Kansas City and pour out my time and energy to IHOP and to the church.

Prophetic musician

I play the keyboard on one of the worship teams at IHOP. I am currently playing with Justin Rizzo, one of the main worship leaders at IHOP. Justin's team ministers to the Lord in the mornings and early afternoons between the hours of 6am and 2pm. Before playing with Justin, I previously played with Marcus Meier and Tim Reimherr’s worship team, also known as “Merchant Band” outside of IHOP. I have also played for Todd Ganovski, who has since been sent to Nashville by the Lord to assist with a house of prayer there.

I believe the Lord has called me to be a prophetic musician, or one who prophesies with his instrument the very melodies and rhythms on the heart of God. In 1 Samuel 16, King Saul was being tormented by a demon. The king called the young man David to play his instrument before him, in hopes of it alleviating his torment. Whenever David played, the demon would depart from him. I believe the Lord is raising up musicians and singers who will have this same anointing – that when they sing and play, that hearts would be more receptive to the person of Jesus.

Justin and the team travel occasionally with “onething”, a conference ministry that hosts gatherings across the nation to equip young adults in lifestyles of prayer and extravagant devotion to Jesus.

Justin's current worship team schedule is as follows (all times US Central time):

  • Tuesday 6am
  • Wednesday 8am
  • Thursday 6am
  • Thursday 10am
  • Friday 12pm
  • Friday 6pm
  • Saturday 8am

Music school instructor, Bible school teaching assistant, and eSchool tutor

I help teach a course in music technology to students at the Forerunner Music Academy, where students learn about live and studio music production.

I also help David Sliker with one of his courses at the base’s bible school, the Forerunner School of Ministry. David teaches “Biblical Foundations of Eschatology”, a course that outlines what the Word has to say about the circumstances, events, and motivations of God leading up to and beyond the second coming of Jesus, and “The Kingdom of God”, a through biblical overview of the future reign of God on the earth. The subject of eschatology fascinates me and causes me to pursue Jesus with an even greater fervency, so helping with these classes year after year has been such a privilege.
