It’s been a crazy couple of weeks! In addition to my continuing home renovations (the kitchen is just about done, and my roommates’ bathroom is about 85% complete), I had some friends visit for the onething conference and the Luke18 prayer summit here. Following their visit, we had our monthly 3-day fast and solemn assembly. And at the end of the fast I took off for a week visit to the warm land of Arizona.

So much to say and so little time today... So perhaps an update in the next few days.

My brief week trip to Arizona was amazing. Other than being sunny and 70 the whole time, it was perhaps the most refreshing, invigorating, and spiritually strengthening trip away from IHOP that I have ever been on. Let me tell you, God is up to something at Arizona State University. We've got to sow into that place with our prayers!

Definitely more on this later on...

Here's something that really made the week amazing as well:

It's 2008 and the onething conference is over, but the fun at the Hawkins home still continues! I have several guests and friends from across the nation packing out my house for the next few days. A few of them are staying longer for the Luke18 Project leadership summit and the rest of them are hanging around to spend a few extra days in the prayer room.

Today is an awesome day in IHOP-KC's history. On September 19, 1999, the prayer meeting that started is continuing this very moment. IHOP has, by the grace of God, gone for 8 years straight, 24/7, without stopping.

Last Sunday, we celebrated the Lord's faithfulness to us as a family at John Anderson Park here in south KC with food, games, and fun. Some folks played the traditional games like volleyball, basketball, and soccer, but we also had...

Today is the first day of our monthly 3-day fast here at IHOP-KC. Folks from around the world join us in taking the first full Monday through Wednesday of each month (and the first full week in December) to position our hearts before the Lord in a 3-day solemn assembly with prayer and fasting. Everyone at IHOP makes it a priority in their schedule and attends at least two intercessory prayer meetings each day.

My roommates and I made some amazing blueberry, banana, and chocolate peanut butter chip pancakes on Saturday, and I think all that white flour and sugar is catching up...

Last night I was reading this recent article on CNN that had one particular fact that really stood out to me. Out of 750 random American Christians polled, nearly eight out of ten said that people of other beliefs could get into heaven. That's almost 600 out of the 750. Wow.

Some other interesting statistics from the poll:

  • 62 percent polled say that American society has strayed too far from its religious foundation in the past 50 years.
  • 45 percent said religion should have...

We are about to begin our 40-day fast focusing on revival in America and breakthrough at IHOP. In the midst of the buzz of pre-fast excitement and activity, the Lord is teaching me about my over-romanticized version of revival and what it means to see the church passionate about Jesus once again.

Revival is more than some good church meetings where people get touched by God. It’s also a lot more than good meetings for a few years where people get healed, delivered, and set free from demons.

Revival is not about fixing all of my issues and the church’s problems so that...
