After the dreadful moment in Eden's garden when man rebelled against the LORD's command, a plan was set in motion to restore what was lost through a seed of Eve. The story of the seed continues through the line of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob through covenants that God makes with each of them. This session looks at the Abrahamic covenant and the promise of blessing that would come through Abraham's line.

The Bible's story opens up with God's creation of all things in absolute perfection. However, what He made is soon marred by humanity's sin. Though God cursed man and the ground, He promised that a descendant of Adam and Eve would one day come to restore that which was lost in the Fall.

This is Session 3 of the class Faith, Hope, and Love - Rediscovering the Essentials of Christianity.

In order to understand the Bible's story and theology, we must understand the Bible's worldview. Just as it is impossible to play football on a tennis court, it is impossible to play the "game" of the Scriptures on a field other than the one the Bible presents. This session walks through the development of our modern worldview and contrasts it to the simplicity of the Bible's.

Unlike the modern, Platonic idea of eternity as "timelessness", the Bible views time in a linear fashion, beginning with creation and continuing on forever. This session begins to lay the groundwork for the story of Scripture and the hope of the age to come.

“Thanksgiving” is a concept seen throughout the Scriptures. Although it’s good that Americans set aside a Thursday every November to be intentionally thankful, the Bible says much more about giving thanks than just one day a year can handle. Christian gratitude is rooted in the story of the Gospel.

In this teaching given in November 2014 in College Station, TX, Josh walks through the story of the Bible and explains why thanksgiving must be experienced and not merely be words on our lips.
