Awakening Melody by Joshua Hawkins - How it began

Posted on October 29, 2010

November 12, 2009, 6am - The first day I came up with the "Awakening Melody", featured on Forerunner Music's CD "Joy".

This is a clip of the 6am prayer meeting the day after the unusual move of the Holy Spirit in Wes Hall's IHOPU class (11/11/09). There was a tangible feeling of joy in the room (which is unusual for a 6am prayer meeting with young adults), and many were feeling the presence of the Holy Spirit.

The "Awakening Melody", as it came to be known, was formed at this prayer meeting. We were simply playing a walk-up progression, and I asked the Lord to give me a...

Using my laptop for live performance

Posted on October 27, 2010

In February 2010, I visited College Station, Texas where Justin Rizzo and I led worship for a prayer conference. I was "the band" for the weekend, producing all of the background accompaniment (bass, drums, keys, electric, and even some background vocals) for our worship times and prayer meetings using my laptop and Ableton Live.

This video is just a small demonstration of the power of Ableton Live.

I'm posting this to hopefully encourage you up and coming houses of prayer and musicians who are looking to have prayer meetings with more than just a guitar or piano. A "big"...

The return of Jesus and prayer, part 3 of 7

Posted on October 27, 2010

This is part 3 of a 7 part interview I did with Jim Hall from House of Prayer Edmonton (hopedmonton.ca).

Why is it important to study the end-times and the return of Jesus? Why is it seemingly complicated to understand? What should I do to prepare and how should I go about studying what the Bible has to say about it? These and more are all questions I answered for Jim in this interview in August 2010.

Part 3 - People often think that studying the return of Jesus can be harmful or cause people to be "weird". In this part, I talk about how does the subject of the return of...

This is part 2 of a 7 part interview I did with Jim Hall from House of Prayer Edmonton (hopedmonton.ca).

Why is it important to study the end-times and the return of Jesus? Why is it seemingly complicated to understand? What should I do to prepare and how should I go about studying what the Bible has to say about it? These and more are all questions I answered for Jim in this interview in August 2010.

Part 2 - For many people the subject of the return of Christ seems too complicated and impractical to really explore. I talk a bit about how I overcame those issues in my life...

Part 1 - my story, how I came to IHOP-KC, and all about my ministry as an intercessory missionary.

The Glory of Christ: Fellowship in the mundane with the lowly

Posted on October 18, 2010

We live in a world where one’s nearness to God is often gauged by their ministry impact. Because of that, a position in ministry is sought by so many as the way to greater intimacy with God. Unfortunately we’ve dichotomized “ministry” and “the rest of life”, and thus trivialized and belittled the common tasks of our day and think of them as “less than”, never giving them opportunity to be an escort into deep fellowship with the Holy One. It’s because of this that I am fully convinced I am not even close to understanding how near God came to us in the Incarnation.

Israel, their Messiah, and their God

by Josh Hawkins
Posted on October 4, 2010

On the first Sunday of every October, over 175 nations are joining together in prayer for the city of Jerusalem, the nation of Israel, and all her inhabitants. Millions of intercessors and worshippers of Jesus from many ministries across our nation and across the world petition the Lord to bring His Word to pass regarding this troubled land and people group. Yesterday, the ministry I am a part of participated in praying for Israel and Jerusalem as part of the regular 24/7 prayer ministry here.

Israel is not a side-issue in God’s plan of redemption for the world. In fact,...
