In Exodus 12, God commands the people of Israel to hold a yearly feast remembering their slavery in Egypt and God's miraculous deliverance of the entire nation after the death of all of the firstborn of Egypt. This short teaching on the significance and simplicity of the "mechanism" of the Passover meal was given to a group of students at Texas A&M University in April 2019.

The ultimate and certain hope of Christians is that God will raise us from death and give us a new body, like the one Jesus has, so that we might live on a restored Earth with Him forever. In 1 Thessalonians, the Apostle Paul reminds believers who have had loved ones die of this great hope and then says "comfort one another with these words".

In that spirit, I had the honor and privilege of giving the exhortation at the memorial service of a mentor and dear friend Bob Falkner who died from cancer in April 2017. Bob was 70.

“Thanksgiving” is a concept seen throughout the Scriptures. Although it’s good that Americans set aside a Thursday every November to be intentionally thankful, the Bible says much more about giving thanks than just one day a year can handle. Christian gratitude is rooted in the story of the Gospel.

In this teaching given in November 2014 in College Station, TX, Josh walks through the story of the Bible and explains why thanksgiving must be experienced and not merely be words on our lips.

UPDATED FOR 2015: Check out the 2015 Advent Guide here!

Advent is a term originally derived from the Latin word adventus, meaning "coming" or "arrival". During Advent, the Christian church remembers Jesus' first coming and joyfully anticipates His second. From His lowly birth in a feed trough to His humble life among the people of Israel, Advent is a focused time to remember God's humility and faithfulness and to “fan the flame” of expectation for Jesus’ return to...

When something is known to possess worth or value, we seek to honor it, show it, tell others about it, and treasure it for ourselves. Just take one of Apple's latest inventions as an example. Corporate executives, wedding DJ's, high school football players, and stay-at-home moms want to own it and show it off to others. Technology geeks want to do more than just own it - they'll talk about it, write about it, hack it, and buy all sorts of accessories for it. Thieves will break into stores or snatch purses to steal it. Without question, that small metal box of silicon transistors,...

In Philippians 3:8, Paul said that he "count[s] everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus". Similarly in Ephesians 3:8, he said that he was given grace "to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ". But what makes Jesus valuable and what gives him worth? How was Paul able to consider everything in his life like rubbish compared to knowing Jesus? In this teaching given at Grace Fellowship Church in Nashua, NH, Josh unpacks these phrases, examines several scenes from the Gospels, and beckons us to look at Jesus and discover the...

I'm so excited for the launch of my weekly video series, Opening Up the Gospels. In 7-10 minute episodes every Tuesday, I will be chronologically walking through the events of the life of Jesus as Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John narrate it. I'm not sure how many episodes I'll have before it's all over, but if the Lord wills, I'll make it all the way to Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24, and John 21!
