Psalm 23 is perhaps the most widely known psalm among both believers and unbelievers. Many find strength through knowing that the LORD, our Shepherd, leads us well and never leaves us. Others have highlighted this psalm for its historic truths as seen in the life of King David. While these well-understood concepts are true, there is a depth to the psalm often unexplored as it relates particularly to Jesus.
In these teaching notes, Matt Candler breaks down Psalm 23 verse-by-verse through a messianic lens, drawing our eyes to Jesus as the slain Lamb and calling us to imitate Him in His suffering as we trust our Father as our Shepherd.
Matt gave this teaching at Forerunner Christian Fellowship in Kansas City in August 2012.
