Support FAQ

1) Why doesn’t IHOP-KC pay you to be on staff? Are contributions to individual missionaries really a tested and proven way to fund missions?

The largest missions organization in the world that pays its staff a salary is Focus on the Family, with 1,200 staff members. However, between Youth with a Mission (YWAM) and Campus Crusade for Christ, over 50,000 individuals successfully raise missionary support. There are thousands more in other similar organizations. Individual missionary support is most certainly a proven way to support missionaries.
2) How can I make a donation to you?

Use my donate page to contribute online securely through Paypal, or donate in a more traditional way by check.
3) If I make a donation through IHOP, where does it go?

100% of the donation comes to me, after state and federal taxes are deducted. There are no administrative costs or deductions taken by the Missions Base. If you are not concerned about a tax deduction for yourself, feel free to contribute directly to me as a gift (this of course is preferred, because there are no taxes deducted for me for gifts) - it's guaranteed that I receive the full amount of your donation!
4) How much should I support you?

I invite all of my supporters to give in a way that excites and connects their heart. I am also confident in the Lord as my provider – He knows what I need and will speak to you accordingly as you ask Him. Thank you for your genuine prayerful consideration!
5) How often should I support you?

Monthly support helps significantly for my budget planning, but feel free to contribute monthly, quarterly, annually, or occasionally.
6) Are my donations tax-deductible?

Yes. All donations given through IHOP are tax-deductible. The finance office will keep track of your donations as charitable contributions and you will receive a donation statement at the end of the year for tax purposes. Your donations are not tax-deductible if you donate via Paypal or write a check to me directly, but I will receive 100% of your gift without having to pay any taxes on it (because it is a gift). I of course would prefer the gift method (check written to "Joshua Hawkins" or donated through Paypal) if you don't care about a tax deduction, but please feel free to donate via any method you wish.
7) Where does my support money go? How do you use the funds I donate?

Your gifts practically support my tangible needs like food, rent, utilities, gasoline, health insurance, and taxes. In addition, I am committed to extravagant giving, and your gifts also are sown into the needs of other missionaries and the less fortunate in Kansas City and abroad.
