It’s clear that the Lord is stirring His church in ways like He never has before. When the top leaders in the missions movement like Loren Cunningham (founder of Youth with a Mission) and Mark Anderson say things like “the Great Commission will probably be completed in 10 years”, when extravagance of devotion to Jesus is becoming increasingly common among young adults all across the world, and when prayer rooms are springing up across the earth without any coordinated effort by one group or organization, our hearts should be alerted that there is truly...

When you think of and pray for the gift of faith, what comes to your mind?

For the patriarchs, faith was more than having confidence that God was going to heal them or save their friends. It was much more than knowing that money for the bill would come in at the last minute. Hebrews 11, the great “hall of faith” chapter, gives us a glimpse into God’s ultimate purpose in giving the gift of faith. It always resulted in a steadfast confidence in the resurrection of the body and the Holy City returning to the earth, where God and man would dwell together once again...

On Sunday, the United States Congress passed a bill that allows federal funds to be used for abortions. President Obama will sign that bill into law today. Many look at this new reform as a severe blow to the long-time efforts of lobbyists, activists, and the pro-life movement in America. Some in the church of Jesus are also very discouraged, as many have been contending in prayer for righteous leaders, the ending of abortion, and the reversal of the “death decree” to babies in the womb for years.

While this is certainly disappointing news to me, it is not surprising nor does it...

A friend the other day asked me an interesting question – “Do you think you have the right eschatology to be saved?” It’s a genuine and very real question to ask because of Jesus’ own words about deception coming at the end of the age. But I responded:

“My eschatology is definitely wrong in areas, but the way to be saved is not by having the perfect understanding of all of the end-time events.”

In pondering and searching out my answer a bit more, I came across Luke 13:22-30 where Jesus answers a pretty loaded question from someone He meets in His journeys through the cities...

Creation

Yesterday I was meditating on and praying through Hebrews 1 with one of the worship teams here in the house of prayer. The whole chapter such an amazing passage, but I got “stuck” on the first two verses:

“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son,”
(Hebrews 1:1-2 NKJV)

Those thirty words are full of spiritual gold directly from the...

IHOP-KC is currently on a corporate 40-day fast crying out for God’s glory in our midst. I’ve been asking myself the question “what does that practically look like for me?” and figured I’d share my heart on it.

I had to ask the basic question - what is the glory of God, and why do I want it? When we think of glory, do we think of a bright and shining sparkly cloud that comes into a room? Do we think His glory comes to give us a good meeting where a bunch of people fall on the floor? When we are asking for glory, what are we asking for?

In Exodus 33, Moses asked God to...

We all desire intimacy with God on a deep level. It’s what we were made and fashioned for. But what exactly does it mean and how do we grow in it? Most believers are confident that they desire intimacy with Jesus, but few can tell you exactly what it means or how to obtain it. Intimacy with God is not supposed to be just a vague and nebulous idea that only a few are able to truly obtain in life. We need clarity on exactly what it is and how we obtain it because we can never expect to lay hold of something unless we know what we’re looking for.

Intimacy with God is much...

We all know how important it is as believers to read the Word and to pray. But if you're anything like me, growing up I always compartmentalized and separated my prayer and reading time. I'd read a few chapters, then close my Bible and spend a few minutes in mostly unfocused prayer before becoming distracted and bored. There was nothing sinful or wrong with the way I prayed and read, and I'm confident the Lord was well-pleased in my attempts to love Him by spending time with Him.

However, I later realized there was a much more exciting way to have a quiet time with the Lord. I...

I have recently been pondering the word Christians throw around all the time - "grace". By definition, grace is the unmerited favor of God. He gives us something we are undeserving of. I am so thankful for His grace!

But as we read in 2 Peter and Jude, one of the great pressures in the end times will come from false teachers within the Church.

For certain men have crept in unnoticed...ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny...our Lord Jesus Christ. (Jude 1:4)

I believe one of the most common areas of false teaching...
